A Contractor Agreement is not a contract of employment, it is specifically designed to outline the intentions of both a subcontractor and a client.
The main differences include:
- A Contractor Agreement states that the contractor is self-employed and responsible for their own tax and NI.
- A Contractor Agreement is normally for a fixed term and usually not renewable.
- A Contractor Agreement won’t normally have set hours of work.
- A Contractor Agreement will normally not make allowance for subcontractor expenses.
- A Contractor Agreement doesn’t include holidays, however, it may have fixed contract periods.
- A Contractor Agreement will normally allow the subcontractor to substitute employees, if necessary.

- Contractor and client details
- Description of works or services
