Home working health and safety templates Working from home safety

Working from home or (home working) is where an employee undertakes some or all their work duties from their home.

Working from home places certain legal responsibilities on both employers and employees. Most Health and Safety regulations that apply to the work place apply equally when working from home.

Were the work is low- risk such as office work, employers are only responsible for the equipment they supply.

Employer responsibilities cannot be transferred to any other person, including those people who work from home. Under the Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations, employers are required to undertake a risk assessment of home working activities and take steps to avoid or control risks where necessary.

Home workers law and regulations

If your employees work from home you are required to protect their health, safety and welfare. You must carry out an assessment of the work activity and take appropriate measures to reduce any risks. Employers have legal responsibilities under The Health and Safety at Work Act and The Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations.
