The Default Retirement Age (DRA) was formerly 65 this was phased out in 2011 allowing most people to work for as long as they wish to. Employees can now choose when they wish to retire and most businesses don’t now set an obligatory retirement age for employees.
 
Retirement is a form of resignation so it is now the employee’s responsibility to discuss when to retire with the employer. Employees that choose to work longer must not be discriminated against.
 

Pensions

If you are a UK employer you have a legal duty to enrol certain employees into a pension scheme and make contributions towards it. If you’re an employer, automatic enrolment will apply to you and there are things you need to do.
